Wireless, battery-operated radiation probe based on CMOS SPADs

A CMOS SPAD based camera, for possible applications as an intraoperative probe or as a calibration tool for laboratory sources, is being developed in the frame of the INFN funded ASAP experiment. The probe operation is controlled by means of a microcontroller, mounted together with the sensor on a small PCB and communicating wirelessly with a PC by means of a Bluetooth module. The system can be powered through a USB cable or by means of a rechargeable battery.
